Billie Eilish and FINNEAS’ “What Was I Made For?” from Barbie received track – function movie on the 2023 Hollywood Music in Media Awards, which had been introduced Wednesday evening (Nov. 15) at The Avalon in Los Angeles.
The hypnotic “What Was I Made For?” (written by Eilish and her brother FINNEAS) beat out one other track from Barbie, the comedian “I’m Just Ken” (written by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt). Atlantic’s soundtrack album from the movie additionally received the soundtrack award.
The late Robbie Robertson received rating – function movie for his rating for Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon. Robertson died in August at age 80. This was the eleventh and closing collaboration between Scorsese and Robertson; the movie is devoted to the Canadian rock music legend.
Ladies co-wrote 5 of the six songs that received in numerous movie classes. And ladies composers took two of the seven movie rating awards. Laura Karpman received rating – sci-fi / fantasy movie for The Marvels; Hildur Guđnadóttir received rating – horror/thriller movie for A Haunting in Venice. As well as, Mica Levi, who identifies as non-binary, received rating – unbiased movie for The Zone of Curiosity.
Angela Leus received music supervision in a movie for Trolls Band Collectively.
The present included performances by nominees OK Go, Diane Warren and Marc Shaiman. Shaiman, a Grammy, Emmy and Tony winner, obtained an excellent profession achievement award.
Presenters included Taura Stinson, Marie Kingsley, Heather Mcintosh, Julia Michaels, Allyson Newman, Mychael Danna, Mike Stoller and the celebrated crew of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
The HMMAs are sometimes seen as a bellwether for the Oscars. Previous HMMA winners who’ve gone on to win Oscars embody Eilish and Finneas for the title track from No Time to Die; Hans Zimmer for Dune; Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and Jon Batiste for Soul; Hildur Guðnadóttir for Joker; Ludwig Göransson for Black Panther; and Alexandre Desplat for The Form of Water; plus songs from Judas & the Black Messiah, La La Land, A Star Is Born and others.
Not like the Oscars, which have only one class every for songs and scores, the HMMAs have six classes for movie songs and 7 for scores.
Essentially the most intriguing and impressed HMMA class is track – onscreen efficiency, which honors the performer who carried out the track onscreen within the movie. Eve Hewson, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Orén Kinlan and Jack Reynor received for performing “High Life” in Flora and Son.
Within the HMMAs’ latest class, greatest track – sci-fi/fantasy, Olivia Rodrigo and Dan Nigro received for co-writing “Can’t Catch Me Now” from The Starvation Video games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
